Where to Find quality Social Media Marketing Ideas
Social Media Marketing is big news at the moment, for good reason. It has bridged the gap between corporate businesses and their customers, between celebrities and their fans and has leveled the playing field for small businesses versus their bigger rivals. Through Social Media Marketing, ideas can be shared quickly, easily and cheaply, long lasting relationships can be built between strangers and when worked for maximum effect it can boost a brand’s online reputation no end.
Social Media Marketing isn’t as simple or easy as all that though, especially as you have to engage people in a friendly and personable way every day, while still keeping things fresh and interesting. There’s nothing worse than Facebook spam, or Twitter accounts posting the same message day in day out.
So how do you keep it fresh? Here are our;
Top 5 Social Media Marketing Ideas.
1. Provide your readers with valuable content.
With so many blogs all over the web being updated daily, not to mention news reports and personal opinions as well, readers are spoilt for choice when it comes to where to spend their time. Make sure that you provide your readers with content that is so valuable, interesting, funny or attention grabbing that they know that a visit to your site is worth their time. If you’re struggling for inspiration read these 25 great blog ideas.
2. Know your Search Terms
Google Analytics can show you how readers have arrived at your blog, for example by giving you the term that was put in the search engine that brought them to you. Facebook Pages also provide a weekly analytics update so you can see what conversation topics have had people talking on your page, and there are similar style devices available for Twitter or whatever other site you choose.
By understanding what people are talking about in relation to your site, and what search terms are bringing them to you, you can tailor your content to bring you maximum readers. Imagine have a blog about interior decorating, but when you look at the analytics you might notice that people are searching for information on increasing their house prices. You can use that knowledge to your advantage if you start writing more about how to design your home for maximum value enhancement.
3. Stay up to date and Relevant.
People have a habit of reverting to their comfort zone, and the same is true with Social Media Marketing. Ideas can sometimes be hard to come by, so one of the best ways to come up with new ideas for your campaigns is to stay abreast of industry trends and hot topics. This isn’t as hard or as time consuming as you might think. Try setting up Google alerts for key phrases within your industry and every day you’ll have articles on that topic mailed straight to you, saving you hours of skimming the web. You can also set up searches on Twitter for relevant Keywords, or download an Alexa Toolbar so that you can see topics that are trending all over the Web.

4. Remember to be Social
Social Media Marketing ideas need to be put into practice and the best way to do this is to be social, get feedback and stay involved in the community you’re trying to create. There’s no point coming up with great slogans, logos, offers, images or videos to send out via Social Media if you neglect to follow up on the campaign by being involved with it personally. Social Media users are savvy people who can see through an automated response, and when this happens you’ll find that you lose your followers, and your reputation, in a heartbeat. 5. Learn from those around you every day.
Social Media Marketing is relatively new in the grand scheme of things, and as such Social media Marketing ideas are evolving all the time. There’s always the next new thing, MySpace and Bebo are old news, Instagram and Pinterest are current flavor of the month, but who knows what sites we’ll be using in a year’s time. Keep your eyes and ears open, learn from other people’s success, find out what works for you and what doesn’t and don’t feel like you have to work in a way that doesn’t suit you and your brand. The most important thing is that you get results!

Shawn,
My advice is don’t think that you have to be part of many social communities.
Find out the one that works best for you, that provides the best results and maximize your time and energies improving relationships in that one. Spreading yourself thin can mean it is difficult to give a full account of yourself, your skills and expertise.
Thanks as always for your comment,

More fab tips from you James, I agree with all of them… the key to social media is to be social, no point in having profiles but you don’t interact with your potential customers!

Thanks again, James, I agree with Shawn. I see Social Media as a subject where I have to struggle to keep up. I’m trying to find my niche, just takes time. I’m glad there are people who can get good content out there to follow. It helps me make better decisions on what’s out there, & what’s working.
