How to Write Blogs like a Superhero and Not a Villain
POW! Kerching! Bosh! The sound of the virtual blows that are reigning down on you as you view your analytics for the past thirty days. Deflating to say the least! But have no fear because in this post we are going to give you ten tips that will show you how to write blogs like a superhero and stop being the villain.
Use Visuals to Stand Out – Do you remember the Batman series from the 70’s with Adam Ward as Batman? Whenever there was an action scene there would be bright, animated visuals that would pop up on the front of the screen. I loved it!
It worked in the 70’s and it works now. Add images and video to your blog so that you can reach your audience through different mediums. To use the old cliché, a picture paints a thousand words.
Blog with Passion – If you have no interest in a topic then how the heck else can you expect anyone else to be interested in it. I don’t want to hear about your trip to the supermarket, save that for when you speak to your parents. If you want to get your blog noticed, then write about topics that you love or hate, that way you are more likely to be enthusiastic and that passion will flow through to your readers.
Don’t be Spineless – There are a lot of blogs out there, and a lot of content gets produced daily. If you are in a niche where there is a lot of competition then just saying the same old thing is not going to win the hearts and minds of your audience you need to come up with some quality blog ideas
Have a fresh point of view, it will inspire people to share your content, create valuable links and encourage readers to come back for more.
Send out The Bat Signal – Commissioner Gordon used to switch on the bat single when he needed Batman. The bat emblem would light up the sky over Gotham city and Batman would inevitably come to the rescue.
Knowing how to promote your blog the right way is crucial. You need maximum exposure. Submit your site to RSS directories; post your link on your Facebook wall. But don’t abuse the power because if you add your links and send out signals all the time when there are no changes then you might find that when you really do have something then your audience will turn their backs on you.
Pack a Punch With Your Headline. Once you know how to promote a blog your next job is to hook them in sharpish. Your headline is the key. A good headline is short, snappy, loaded with keywords and gives the reader a sneak peak at the story and will hook them in faster than the bat winch!
Don’t go it Alone – Every superhero needs a community to support them. Blogging is about building a community and sharing the love. Include related links in your copy, it gives your readers more context and the opportunity to highlight your expertise on an area even further.
Don’t Hide Behind an Alias – It was never Batman or Superman that got the girl. It was always Bruce Wayne or Clarke Kent.
Don’t hide your true self away from the public. Your blog gives you the opportunity to speak with your audience and get valuable feedback as to how to improve the service you are delivering. Knowing how to make a good blog great begins by opening your blog up to debate, encourage comments and cultivate a community (Tell me what you think of this blog by adding your comment at the bottom!).
Be on Time – A Superhero is always on time. It might be the very last minute as the bus is precariously dangling over the edge of a 300ft cliff but he always gets there.
One advantage you have over a superhero is that you can set a plan. Establish an ambitious but feasible plan and stick to it. The more quantity you have, the better. DON’T compensate quantity for quality.
Send your Readers into a Spin Like Wonder Woman – when Diana Prince transformed into Wonder Woman she literally went into a spin and came out wearing suitable attire for catching villains. She would certainly put me off causing mischief!
Make sure that the content you write is both high quality and relevant. If your blog is about the mechanics of financial mechanism and you write about toothbrush holders you will lose interest fast!
Avoid Becoming the Villain – You can quite easily turn your love into hatred and displeasure if you get it wrong. And by that I mean if you post something that you have not checked, double checked and even triple checked. The public can turn on you faster than a speeding bullet!
A League of Extraordinary Gentleman – you are not the only superhero or famous blogger out there, check in your niche to find out who your competitors are and also what the popular blogs are. What do they have that you don’t? Invisibility can’t help you, but harnessing the power of another blogger with 10,000 readers can. Think about it!
There you have it, learning how to write blogs is not difficult and with the correct tools in your utility belt you can soon become a superhero! And you don’t have to wear a spandex outfit to do it!

“Don’t Hide Behind an Alias – It was never Batman or Superman that got the girl. It was always Bruce Wayne or Clarke Kent.”
This is perhaps one of the most important blogging tips. Blogs are not like fiction novels authors who can catch the interest of people simply because they are anonymous. Blogs need a face to give credibility to the contents.

I’m trying to build an online presence which incorporates all my writings on the web. As part of this I am trying to get a blog going that will assist in backlinking to all my other pages and hopefully becomes the central ‘hub’ for all my fans! It takes time, but I am trying to write 3 or 4 entries a week and as it becomes more popular I’ll probably post at least once a day!
